Job description

They are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and support children with special educational needs (SEN) in achieving their full potential. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide individual and small group support for students with special educational needs, assisting them with their learning and personal development

  • Help to create and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, ensuring the specific needs of each pupil are met

  • Assist the class teacher in adapting the curriculum to make learning accessible and engaging for students with a range of SEND

  • Support students in social and emotional development, promoting inclusion and positive interactions with peers

  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO regarding student achievements and challenges

  • Support with behaviour management strategies, ensuring students are engaged and motivated to learn

  • Foster a safe and positive learning environment, encouraging independence and building self-confidence

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Has experience supporting children with special educational needs, ideally within a school setting

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND and helping them succeed

  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and understanding, with the ability to adapt to each student’s individual needs

  • Is an excellent communicator, able to work closely with teachers, SENCO, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for students

  • Has a proactive approach, showing initiative and flexibility in a dynamic environment as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • Is able to support students in managing behaviours and challenges in a positive and calm manner
