A leading education agency seeks a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with various special educational needs at an all-through school in Barnet. The role includes providing tailored academic support, collaborating with teachers, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. Start date: September 2025 (earlier starts may be available)
Hours: 8.30am - 4pm approximately
Salary: £19,500 - £22,500
SEN Teaching Assistant - responsibilities
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Your role will involve:
* Providing one-to-one and small group support to students in the classroom (multiple subject areas).
* Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
* Supporting students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
* Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
* Encouraging independence and confidence in students.

SEN Teaching Assistant - requirements
* A 2:1 or above from a top UK university - Psychology graduates are desirable
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a positive attitude
* Has a good understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
* Proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
* Considering a career in teaching or Educational Psychology
