Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in Felixstowe is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a welcoming primary school from September 2026. The role focuses on helping diverse learners develop independence, communication and social skills within an inclusive classroom.

You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted support, helping pupils access lessons and participate confidently in activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Patient, compassionate and resilient to support learning.
  • Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS.

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping every pupil achieve their potential? This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and social, emotional and mental health needs.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Encouraging pupil independence and confidence.
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will:
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND (preferred).
  • Be patient, compassionate and resilient.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be committed to helping every child succeed.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS.
