Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with an outstanding specialist school in Greenwich that supports pupils aged 2-19 with SEND.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will work with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support, helping pupils develop communication, independence and life skills, with opportunities for permanent employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support for pupils in and out of the classroom.
• Help pupils develop communication, independence, confidence and life skills.
• Support pupils on 1:1 and in small groups.
• Assist with PECS, Makaton or other communication methods.
• Support sensory regulation and deliver engaging activities.
• Provide personal care where required.
• Work with Speech and Language Therapists and others.
• Encourage positive behaviour through patience and consistency.
• Help pupils achieve EHCP targets.

Pay: 95- 120 per day (PAYE)

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with an outstanding specialist school in Greenwich that supports pupils aged 2-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who wants to help pupils reach their full potential in a nurturing and highly supportive environment.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support for pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will help pupils develop their communication, independence, confidence and life skills while ensuring they feel safe, valued and engaged throughout the school day.

Depending on the class, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assisting with communication using PECS, Makaton or other alternative communication methods.
• Supporting sensory regulation and delivering engaging learning activities.
• Providing personal care where required.
• Working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
• Encouraging positive behaviour through patience, consistency and relationship building.
• Helping pupils achieve their individual EHCP targets.
