Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support for an inclusive SEMH school in Derby for September 2026. You will support pupils with SEMH and SEN across KS2–KS4, helping them regulate behaviour and re-engage with learning.

Role hours are 8:30am–3:00pm, Monday to Friday, with a fixed-term contract for the autumn term. The ideal candidate has SEMH/SEN experience, strong behaviour management, and an Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• SEMH/SEN or PRU experience required.
• Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge essential.
• Strong behaviour management skills expected.
• DBS in place or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Support SEMH/SEN pupils across KS2–KS4.
• Deliver behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group learning and emotional support.
• Implement behaviour plans and risk assessments.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and engagement.
• Uphold safeguarding and welfare procedures.

About the Role

An inclusive SEMH school in Derby City is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support from September 2026. You will support pupils with SEN, SEMH needs, helping them regulate behaviour, build confidence and re-engage with learning.

The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with small classes, strong pastoral support and an experienced team.
