• Provide support, care, and teaching as outlined in learners’ individual learning plans and curriculum.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver sessions and activities to develop learners' knowledge and skills according to their individualised curriculum.

• Offer behaviour support to reduce barriers to learning and improve quality of life.

• Support learners' participation in social, leisure, and educational activities within the community, applying theory-based learning.

• Facilitate decision-making, promote choice, and encourage involvement, respecting initiatives for individual empowerment.

• Collect, record, and analyze data on learner progress to ensure support is effective and make necessary adjustments.

• Administer medication following company policies once trained and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.

• Attend relevant training and mandatory courses to achieve required qualifications.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Experience working with adults or young people with disabilities, professionally, personally, or voluntarily.
  • Interest in special educational needs, especially autism.
  • Passionate about helping others learn and develop skills.
  • Positive, patient, caring, and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
  • Accurate record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Confidentiality and discretion in handling information.
  • Ability to analyze verbal and numerical data effectively.
  • Contribute to improving work methods and team outcomes.
  • Adaptability to new ideas and initiatives.
  • Effective workload management and task completion within deadlines.
  • Ability to invite and build upon others' ideas.

Building relationships

  • Follow-up with learners during and after service delivery to ensure needs are met.
  • Provide support during critical periods.
  • Prioritize and address learners' issues appropriately.
  • Understand motivations behind actions.
  • Recognize organisational rules, structures, and values to determine acceptable and feasible actions.
