Job summary

Supply Desk are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant in the London Colney area. You will support pupils with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, and speech/Language needs, while collaborating with teachers and SENCOs to promote positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach to positive behaviour management.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Support pupils including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging with classroom activities.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils, supporting confidence and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
• Monitor pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing and share observations with staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Pay:£85-£115 per day (dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are currently recruiting for adedicated, patient and caring SEN Teaching Assistantto join a welcoming and inclusive school in the London Colney area. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate aboutsupporting pupils with additional needsand helping them overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff to providetailored support to individual pupils, helping them access the curriculum, develop their confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

We are looking for someone who isnurturing, adaptable and committed, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and create a calm, supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide1:1 and small-group supportto pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs

• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively with classroom activities
• Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils, supporting theirconfidence, self-esteem and independence
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development
• Monitor pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing and share observations with teachers and SENCOs
• Adapt support strategies and learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
• Encourage pupils to participate fully in learning and develop greater independence
• Work collaboratively withteachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals
• Help maintain asafe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Role Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting children withSpecial Educational Needsis preferred
• Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A calm, patient and consistent approach to positive behaviour management
• A genuine passion for education and supporting children and young people
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding
• Previous experience working within aprimary or secondary schoolis desirable
