Job summary

GSL Education is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work in outstanding schools in Basingstoke. The position offers daily supply and long-term placements, with a focus on supporting pupils with a range of additional needs alongside teachers and the SENCO.

You will provide one-to-one or small group support, help deliver engaging lessons, and assist with learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing. Safeguarding checks and enhanced DBS are required.

GSL Education is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work at some of the outstanding schools in Basingstoke. As a SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. Whether you are looking for daily supply or a long-term role, this SEN Teaching Assistant position offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to make a real difference every day.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Support pupils with their learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Help pupils build confidence, independence, and communication skills.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and other professionals.
• Record and report pupil progress where required.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a SEN TA or supporting children with special educational needs.
• A caring, patient, and positive approach to working with children.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• A good understanding of different special educational needs and effective support strategies.
• The ability to remain calm and flexible in a busy school environment.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEN are desirable but not essential.
