Job summary

Forever Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term supply role based in Barking, East London, starting September 2026. The position offers a potential permanent opportunity from January 2027, with a daily rate of £110-£125.

You will support pupils with SEN, including SEMH and ASC, in a high-performing independent SEN group. The school has Outstanding ratings, strong community ties, and excellent transport links, making it a supportive environment for developing specialist

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
• Demonstrated understanding of needs of students with special educational needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to liaise with students, parents and colleagues.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking to adapt to changing student needs.
• Implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting students with SEMH and ASC.
• A passion for inclusive education and commitment to student success.
• Relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant Diploma or NVQ are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support SEN students in classroom activities and therapy sessions.
• Contribute to behaviour management and safeguarding of pupils.
• Liaise with teachers, parents and support staff to track progress.

Q - Do you have experience supporting young people with SEMH, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, trauma, or anxiety-related needs?

Forever Education is supporting a unique independent Special Educational Needs (SEN) group based in London, which provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational and neurodiverse learning needs. They are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join them from September 2026 on a long-term supply basis through to December 2027 on a full-time basis. There is a potential opportunity for a permanent position from January 2027.
