Job summary

Philosophy Education in London is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit in Tower Hamlets. You will teach a secondary provision with small classes and a supportive team, focusing on SEMH and behavioural needs.

The role requires QTS, PRU experience, strong SEND and behaviour management knowledge, and the ability to develop IEPs, work with SENCOs and external agencies, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Significant experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly in PRU or similar settings.
  • Strong understanding of SEND, behaviour management strategies, and challenges in alternative provisions.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse student needs.
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to build strong relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, tailored teaching to students with SEN.
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons aligned to the curriculum.
  • Manage classroom behaviour to create a safe learning environment.
  • Develop IEPs and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Provide regular feedback to students and parents on progress.
