About the Role

A well-established special school in East London is seeking an experienced teacher for maternity cover at their primary site. The students have severe learning difficulties, autism, complex needs, and speech & language requirements. The role involves teaching Year 5 students with SLD, ASD, SPLD, and working with children with diverse special needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach individuals or small groups
• Prepare lessons and resources
• Assess and mark work
• Adapt teaching methods to individual needs
• Liaise with professionals (social workers, therapists, psychologists)
• Manage behaviour effectively

Candidate Requirements

• QTS or equivalent
• Special Education Degree (desirable)
• Experience in a special school or with SEN children
• Knowledge of SLD, ASC, SPLD
• Strong behaviour management skills
