Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher for a specialist provision in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, supporting pupils aged 7-19 with complex cognitive, sensory and communication needs, including 6th form life-skills.

The role involves planning differentiated lessons, adapting to individual needs, working with teaching assistants and families, and contributing to education plans while upholding safeguarding standards and promoting independence.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with additional or complex needs.
• Strong differentiation skills.
• Excellent classroom management.
• The ability to communicate clearly and patiently.
• An understanding of sensory and communication needs.
• A commitment to safeguarding.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated learning activities.
• Adapt teaching to individual communication and learning needs.
• Support pupils with complex cognitive and sensory needs.
• Establish clear routines and expectations.
• Develop pupils' independence and functional skills.
• Monitor and assess individual progress.
• Work closely with teaching assistants and specialist staff.
• Communicate effectively with families and professionals.
• Contribute to individual education and support plans.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and development.
• Follow safeguarding and care procedures.
• Support pupils in preparing for their next stage of education, training or adulthood.
