Qualifications

Job description

Job Details

Job Title: SEN Teacher

Location: Oak Tree School, Truro, TR4 9NH

Salary: Up to GBP40,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 42.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Start: September 2025

Note: This role is only open to fully qualified Teachers (QTS)

About the Role

As a special educational needs (SEN) teacher, you'll work with pupils who need extra support or require an advanced program of learning to reach their full potential. This includes pupils with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties like dyslexia, autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or a combination of these. You may also work with gifted and talented pupils who need further challenges.

Your responsibilities include identifying individual needs, adapting your teaching accordingly, and creating a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.

Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • QTS status
  • Experience in SEN
  • GCSE (or equivalent), grade C in English and Maths
  • Use of various teaching styles and approaches
  • Organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding pupils
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
