Job description

Do you want to join a support and creative team that will make you feel like you belong from day one?

Do you want to work at a school where every child is offered their own individualised curriculum?

This special school supports students ages 11-19 with severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Students join as children and leave as happy and confident young adults.

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher to join our team, focusing on providing exceptional educational experiences for a small classroom of 6 or 7 students aged 11-16 with ASD and SEMH. Your primary responsibility will be to design and deliver engaging, challenging, and individualised learning activities and sensory engagements that empower these students to reach their full potential across various learning domains.

As an advocate for Special Educational Needs (SEN), you will play a crucial role in ensuring that each child is equipped to thrive and access diverse opportunities within a nurturing and secure environment. Your role will involve crafting curriculum-aligned lessons tailored to the unique needs of each student and contributing to the overall daily operations of the school.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute well-structured lessons that align with the curriculum, accommodating the diverse learning requirements of each student.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants, providing guidance, supervision, and contributing to their professional growth.
  • Contribute to the progression and development of students by actively participating in their Professional Development Reviews.
  • Enforce school policies and procedures, with a focus on safeguarding, equality, and inclusivity.
  • Foster effective partnerships with fellow staff members, parents, guardians, and external agencies to holistically support students' academic, moral, social, emotional, and cultural development.

Qualifications:

  • Recognized teaching qualification, with experience in Special Educational Needs preferred.
  • Profound understanding of ASD and SEMH, and strategies for adapting teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage varied tasks and lesson planning effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with unique requirements.

Join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs, guiding them toward realising their full potential within a caring and dynamic educational setting.
