Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Supply Teacher for day-to-day coverage in Taunton. Work across Primary and Secondary settings, delivering differentiated lessons and supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, and learning disabilities.

Role requires QTS/ QTKS (QTLS welcome for NQTs) and an Enhanced DBS. Flexible hours, weekly PAYE payments, and close collaboration with school SENCo ensure a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is required.
  • Experience with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, or learning disabilities.
  • Flexibility to work across Primary and Secondary settings at short notice.
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver differentiated SEN lessons.
  • Provide support for SEMH, ADHD, ASC and learning disabilities.
  • Collaborate with HLTA, TA and SENCO to implement IEPs.
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies.

Job description

SEN Supply Teacher (Primary & Secondary) - Taunton

Are you a compassionate, adaptable, and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher looking for flexible day-to-day work? We are seeking dedicated educators to join our team to support mainstream schools and specialist SEN provisions across the Taunton area. If you are passionate about creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every pupil feels supported to learn and succeed, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
  • Adaptable Teaching: Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons planned by permanent staff, tailored to meet diverse SEN needs across EYFS and Key Stages 1-4.
  • Specialist Support: Provide tailored support for pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), ADHD, Autism (ASC), and Learning Disabilities (SLD/MLD).
  • Behaviour Support: Use positive behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate challenging situations and foster a safe classroom environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs), Teaching Assistants (TAs), and school SENCOs to deliver individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Safe Working: Maintain high standards of safeguarding and follow all school policies regarding pupil well-being.
Qualifications:
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is required. (ECTs/NQTs with relevant SEN experience are welcome to apply).
  • Experience: Proven track record of working with children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, or Learning Disabilities.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable stepping into different school environments across both Primary and Secondary settings at short notice.
  • Key Skills: Excellent communication, emotional resilience, patience, and a calm, empathetic approach under pressure.
  • DBS: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
