Outcomes First Group is seeking an exceptional SEN Teacher for Avonside School in Bristol. You will deliver high-quality lessons, support students with diverse needs, and shape the early curriculum as part of the founding team.

You’ll influence teaching practices, contribute to the school’s vision, and work within a multidisciplinary setting to empower young learners to thrive. The role requires QTS, a passion for inclusive education, and the ability to plan and adapt learning to promote

Qualifications

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has experience teaching within an educational setting.
  • Can confidently plan, deliver and adapt engaging lessons for students with diverse needs.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and believes every child can thrive.
  • Is creative, flexible and committed to delivering personalised learning experiences.
  • Builds positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire students and support progress.
  • Adapt teaching to meet individual needs of learners with complex needs.
  • Plan, develop and review schemes of learning across curriculum areas.
  • Monitor student progress and identify interventions to celebrate achievement.
  • Lead development of your subject area and keep teaching creative and engaging.
  • Collaborate with Avonside School and Outcomes First Group to share best practices.
  • Train and support colleagues with effective teaching strategies in your subject.

Salary

Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

About the Role

We’re looking for an exceptional SEN Teacher who is passionate about making a real difference and believes every child deserves the chance to thrive.

Working with students with a range of additional needs, you’ll create engaging, personalised learning experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and help every child achieve their potential.

You’ll recognise each student’s unique strengths, celebrate every success and adapt your teaching to support meaningful progress both in and beyond the classroom. This is more than a teaching role. It‘s a unique opportunity to help shape a new school from the ground up.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire students and support excellent progress.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of learners with a range of additional and complex needs.
  • Plan, develop and review schemes of learning across your curriculum area.
  • Monitor student progress, using assessment to identify interventions and celebrate achievement.
  • Lead the development of your subject area, ensuring teaching remains creative, innovative and engaging.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Avonside School and the wider Outcomes First Group to share best practice and develop the curriculum.
  • Support colleagues through training and sharing effective teaching strategies within your subject specialism.
  • Work closely with the Exams Officer to ensure accurate qualification entries and successful outcomes.
  • Teach across a range of subjects where required to support the effective delivery of the school's curriculum.
  • Work alongside therapists, Learning Support Assistants, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide a consistent, holistic approach to each student’s education.
