Job description

In return, we can offer a highly supportive and rewarding working environment where positive relationships, mutual respect and inclusion are embedded within our ethos. You will become part of a dedicated team who work closely together to provide children with the personalised support, experiences and opportunities they need to flourish.

Meadow View Farm School is recognised for its exceptional practice, and we are looking to appoint a teacher who can motivate, engage and inspire our children. We are seeking someone who understands that successful learning begins with positive relationships and who can adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of every child. The successful candidate will be hardworking, dedicated and passionate about improving outcomes for children. Empathy, compassion, patience and resilience are essential, alongside the ability to remain calm, consistent and nurturing when supporting children who may communicate their needs through distressed or challenging behaviour. Experience of working with pupils with SEMH, ASC, complex needs and/or behaviours that challenge would be highly beneficial. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, understood, valued and able to succeed.

At Meadow View Farm School, we believe that looking after our children starts with looking after the people who support them. We want our staff to feel valued, supported and part of a team, and we are committed to creating a working environment where wellbeing, professional development and positive relationships genuinely matter. As part of the MVFS team, you can expect:

  • Whole-team PPA time every Friday afternoon, following the pupils' 12:00pm finish, providing protected time for planning, preparation, collaboration and professional development.
  • Additional management time, dependent upon your area of responsibility, recognising the time needed to lead effectively.
  • A comprehensive CPD programme, with regular opportunities to develop your knowledge and practice, particularly around SEND, SEMH, ASC, teaching and learning, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Additional INSET/training days, giving our team further protected opportunities to learn, reflect, develop and work together.
  • An open-door approach to leadership, where staff are encouraged to ask for support, share ideas and have their voices heard.
  • A culture where everyone is valued and where the contribution of every member of the team matters.
  • Access to trained Mental Health First Aiders and a school culture that recognises the importance of staff wellbeing.
  • Freshly prepared school lunches, cooked on site, alongside breakfast, tea and coffee for staff.
  • The opportunity to work within our incredible farm and outdoor setting, making use of an environment that is very different from a traditional school and provides unique opportunities for both pupils and staff.
  • A supportive, close-knit team who understand that working with children with complex needs can be challenging, and that no member of staff should feel they are managing those challenges alone.

We are proud of the expectations we have for our team, but equally proud of the support we provide in return. We want people to enjoy coming to work, feel appreciated for what they contribute and have opportunities to continue developing throughout their career at MVFS.

Salary and role within the school will be dependent upon qualifications and experience and will be in line with the National Teacher Pay Scales. Teachers are eligible to participate in the Teachers' Pension Scheme.

Come and meet us Meadow View Farm School is a unique provision, and we believe it is important that prospective candidates understand our approach, environment and ethos before interview and appointment. We therefore strongly encourage and warmly welcome visits to the school. This will provide an opportunity to look around our provision, experience our farm and outdoor environment, meet members of the team and gain a genuine understanding of what makes Meadow View Farm School such a special place to work and learn.
