We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated KS3 Class Teacher at Erdington Court Campus.

Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN allowance

Start Date: September 2025

City of Birmingham School is a vibrant and inclusive educational institution dedicated to providing exceptional learning experiences for all pupils. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of SEN to join our team at the Erdington Court Campus and help us continue to deliver a relevant and differentiated curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our students.

ECC opened in February 2025 as part of significant growth at COBS and is needs-driven by the presentation of our children. Initially serving pupils in KS3 with needs such as anxiety, school refusal, ASC, among others. ECC offers a small environment with small groups of 8 and high staff levels. A creative curriculum model, combined with high standards and aspirations, allows pupils to thrive.

We welcome applicants from both primary and secondary backgrounds and strongly encourage interested candidates to visit and see this custom, newly refurbished space. This is an exciting moment to join our journey, as our school was recently judged as Good by Ofsted, and to make a significant impact on the lives of our young people. We seek someone with dedication, vision, and drive to support departmental leadership and provide the teaching team with expertise and development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences through a relevant and differentiated curriculum.
  2. Ensure the safeguarding of all pupils and promote equality of opportunity and inclusion.
  3. Provide progress data, assessments, reports, and references for individual pupils and groups.
  4. Engage in continuous professional development, enhancing subject knowledge and teaching methods.
  5. Contribute to School Development Planning and staff meetings.
  6. Promote good attendance and adhere to school policies and procedures.
  7. Ensure the learning environment meets quality standards and is stimulating.
  8. Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils, encouraging personal excellence.
  9. Apply the school Behaviour Policy to facilitate effective learning.
  10. Contribute to the review, development, and management of accreditation activities.
Essential Criteria:
  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Understanding of assessment and profiling to support learning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong pupil management skills and the ability to manage a range of behaviours within the classroom.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and equal opportunities in employment and school delivery.
