Job description

KS3 Humanities Teacher - SEN

Hays Education are supporting a local school in recruiting a dedicated SEN Humanities Teacher to work with them in the summer term. The role is to start in April and will run till the end of the academic year.

The details are as follows:

  1. The school is located in north Birmingham, about a 15-minute drive from the city centre, and describes themselves as a focused and dedicated school with young people at the centre of their ethos.
  2. The school caters for children at KS3 level with social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH).
  3. The role entails planning, teaching, and assessing the Humanities curriculum to a KS3 cohort.
  4. Class sizes are small, with 4 classes in total and approximately 30 children on roll at the school.
  5. The role is Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm, on a term-time only basis.
  6. The school will support training for candidates who may not have experience working in SEMH settings.
  7. The successful candidate will be an experienced practitioner capable of teaching Humanities at KS3.
  8. You will be able to demonstrate key competencies in working with children with SEMH and de-escalation techniques.
  9. Hays Education can obtain recent satisfactory references reflecting this experience.
