Full-time SEN Teacher – Basingstoke, Hampshire

Are you a passionate and nurturing Special Education Needs Teacher seeking a meaningful opportunity in a supportive school environment?

GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a SEN Teacher for a reputable secondary school in Basingstoke, starting in September 2025. This exciting role offers the chance to support students with special educational needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally. The salary for this role falls between £30,000 and £50,000 per annum, and will be determined by your experience and qualifications. The school welcomes applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) as well as more experienced educators. A school tour is available ahead of interviews, which will be held over the coming weeks.

About the Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised lessons that meet the individual needs of students with special educational needs. You will work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and wider school staff to create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment where all pupils can succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored lessons to support students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Create individual learning plans and set achievable targets for students.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and parents to monitor progress.
  • Maintain strong classroom management and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in parents’ evenings, progress reviews, and school meetings.
  • Foster independence, confidence, and a love of learning in all pupils.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent – ECTs are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and SEN strategies.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet a variety of learning needs and styles.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
