Job title: SEN Teacher
Location: Wimborne
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (MPS/UPS) (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate/ September 2025
Contract: Full-time/Permanent

GSL Education are recruiting an SEN Teacher for a specialist school in Wimborne, committed to providing high-quality education and tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of young learners.

About The Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering personalised learning experiences to students with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and support staff to create an engaging and structured environment that fosters confidence, independence and academic progress.

Responsibilities of SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual learning needs of SEN pupils.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement, confidence and social development.
  • Implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets, tracking student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and parents to ensure holistic development for each child.
  • Employ creative and multi-sensory teaching approaches to cater to different learning styles.
  • Foster positive behaviour management strategies that encourage emotional regulation and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour and individual achievements.

The successful candidate will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in SEN (or willingness to undertake relevant training).
  • Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs in a school or specialist setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies.
  • Ability to differentiate learning to support pupils with complex needs and varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff and families.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
