Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Hartlepool. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEN, helping with learning, communication, and social development.

Applicants should have a patient, calm approach and good communication skills. A DBS certificate on the Update Service or a willingness to apply is required. Roles are long-term or day-to-day, with flexible full- or part-time options.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people in an education setting is desirable.
  • Experience with SEN students, education, childcare or similar settings would be beneficial.
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Are you passionate about helping students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) feel supported, included and confident in the classroom?

GSL Education Newcastle Branch are currently seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Hartlepool. This is an opportunity to provide individual and small-group support to students who may need additional assistance with learning, communication, behaviour or emotional development.

Responsibilities As an SEN Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist Special needs children with classroom tasks and learning activities.
  • Help students follow instructions and participate in lessons.
  • Support the development of communication, social and independent learning skills.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and build students' confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant role:
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people as an SEN Teaching Assistant is desirable.
  • Experience working with SEN students, education, childcare or a similar setting would be beneficial.
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to supporting student wellbeing and development.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
