Job summary

GSL Education Newcastle Branch is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Middlesbrough. You will provide targeted support to students who may require additional help with learning, communication, behaviour or emotional wellbeing.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group assistance, helping students understand instructions, stay engaged and develop communication, social and independent learning skills. DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience supporting children or young people in SEN settings.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Good safeguarding knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant role:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people is as an SEN TA desirable .
• Experience working with SEN students, education, childcare or a similar setting would be beneficial.
• A patient, calm and consistent approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to supporting student wellbeing and development.
• Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
