Job summary

Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Shropshire. You will support pupils with severe learning disabilities and complex needs, helping them access learning and develop independence.

Working closely with teachers and professionals, you will provide individualised support, assist with personal care where required, and promote positive behaviour and safe learning. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils with severe learning disabilities and related needs is an advantage.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children and carers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with severe learning disabilities in the classroom and throughout the school day.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Helping pupils access learning through communication and sensory strategies.
• Assisting with personal care and other individual needs as required.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Supporting pupils during lessons, breaks, lunchtime and activities.

Teaching Assistant Severe Learning Disabilities

Location: Shropshire

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time

Salary: GBP92.89 - GBP110.08

Hours: 8.30- 15.30 Monday - Friday

Start Date: 12th October

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Shropshire.

The successful candidate will work with children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence and enjoy a positive experience at school.

The Role: As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide high-quality, individualised support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with severe learning disabilities in the classroom and throughout the school day.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Helping pupils access their learning through appropriate communication and sensory strategies.
• Supporting pupils with personal care and other individual needs where required.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtime and school activities.
• Following individual education and support plans.
• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional well being.
• Working closely with teachers, parents/carers and other professionals.
