Job summary

Academics is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join mainstream primary schools in Huddersfield and surrounding areas. You will deliver 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language delays, helping create an inclusive classroom.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to children with additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language delays.
• Assisting the class teacher with differentiated learning activities and positive behaviour strategies.
• Creating an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
• Supporting pupils with sensory breaks, emotional regulation, and social communication.

What We Are Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school, care, nursery, or youth work backgrounds welcome).
• A calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour support and learning development.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning, Team-Teach, or Makaton) are advantageous but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
