Job summary

Aspire People in Moseley, Birmingham is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people aged 2 to 21 with Autism, SEMH and learning disabilities in a specialist setting.

You will provide individualised support in the classroom and through targeted interventions, work with teaching staff to create an inclusive environment, assist with behaviour management and personal care as required.

Qualifications

• 6 months minimum experience working with children or young people with SEMH, autism, or behavioural needs in a SEND setting.
• In-date Team Teach/MAPA/CPI Interventions certificate is required.
• Calm, empathetic and patient approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Proactive, flexible mindset and a genuine desire to support vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support to pupils with ASD, MLD and complex needs in classroom and targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies.
• Support development of social skills, confidence, and independence in young learners.
• Provide personal care and support for students with learning/physical disabilities.
