Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking proactive Teaching Assistants to support SEND pupils in South Liverpool mainstream primary schools. The role focuses on Autism and ADHD support, with IEPs and behaviour strategies, in long-term and short-term September 2026 placements.

You will work closely with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure a consistent, supportive approach for each child, fostering inclusion and safeguarding in a busy school setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN or challenging behaviour.
  • Patient, resilient and caring.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude toward engaging pupils in their learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted behaviour and learning support to pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Implement, review and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a consistent and effective approach for each child.
  • Promote a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels safe and supported.
  • Use de-escalation and positive behaviour management techniques to help pupils regulate and engage.

If you are looking for your next role supporting SEND students within Mainstream Primary Schools, Tradewind want to hear from you!

We are currently looking for several Full Time Teaching Assistants to work with some of our fantastic schools based in South Liverpool. Long Term and Short Term roles for September 2026 are both available.

To be successful you will need past experience working with SEND children, particularly Autism and ADHD and be able to manage challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted behaviour and learning support to pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Implement, review and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a consistent and effective approach for each child.

What We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting children with SEN or challenging behaviour, ideally in a school or care setting.

  • Child-related Manual Handling qualifications are highly desired and previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour is essential for the role
