Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking an experienced teaching assistant with specialist SEN experience to join a specialist school in Wallington, near Croydon, on a supply (ad hoc) basis. The role focuses on 1:1 and small group support to help students overcome emotional challenges, engage with learning, and build positive relationships.

The position offers daily rate of £88-£93 with working hours 8:30–4:30, across any day in the school week.

Qualifications

GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or higher.
Proven background working with children or young people with SEND.
Excellent communication, patience, emotional resilience and proactive work ethic.
High degree of empathy, professionalism and ability to establish trust with vulnerable pupils.

Responsibilities

Provide targeted academic and behavioural support to individual pupils or small groups.
Assist class teachers with classroom management, lesson preparation and learning activities.
Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
Support pupils with emotional self-control and conflict resolution using positive behaviour strategies.
Monitor student progress and report achievements or challenges to teaching staff.
Escort and support pupils during lunch breaks, physical activities and school trips where required.
