Job summary

Reed Education partnered with a welcoming primary school in Cheltenham to recruit a Teaching Assistant to support Year 1 and Year 5 pupils. The role is full-time, starting immediately and continuing until March 2027, with morning 1:1 support and afternoon general TA duties.

The ideal candidate will have primary school experience, strong behaviour management, patience, resilience, and the ability to adapt across age groups while building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Qualifications

• Experience in a primary school setting.

• Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
• Confident working with children across different age groups.
• Willing to obtain an enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

Teaching Assistant - Year 1 & Year 5

Cheltenham Full-Time Immediate Start Until March 2027

Reed Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Cheltenham to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis, starting as soon as possible and continuing until March 2027.

This is a varied and rewarding role that will involve supporting pupils across two key stages throughout the school day.

The Role

Morning:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil
• Supporting engagement, learning, and emotional wellbeing
• Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour and inclusion
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO

Afternoon:

• Working as a general Teaching Assistant within a Year 5 classroom
• Supporting the class teacher with lessons and classroom activities
• Delivering interventions and small group support where required
• Helping to create a positive and productive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

• Have previous experience working within a primary school setting
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
• Be patient, resilient, and adaptable in their approach
• Have experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
• Be confident working with children across different age groups
• Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
