Job summary

Reed Education are partnering with a welcoming primary school in Cheltenham to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for two year groups (Year 1 and Year 5). This full-time position starts immediately and runs through to March 2027, offering varied day-to-day support across morning 1:1 work and afternoon class assistance.

You will support pupils' learning, behaviour, and wellbeing, work closely with the teacher and SENCO, and help create a positive, inclusive learning environment across both

Qualifications

• Experience in a primary school setting.
• Strong behaviour management and safeguarding.
• Patience, resilience and adaptability in approach.

Responsibilities

• Morning: provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil and promote engagement and wellbeing.
• Afternoon: work as a general TA in a Year 5 classroom and support lessons.
• Deliver interventions and small group support as required.
• Help create a positive learning environment and build relationships with staff and parents.

Teaching Assistant - Year 1 & Year 5

Cheltenham Full-Time Immediate Start Until March 2027

Reed Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Cheltenham to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis, starting as soon as possible and continuing until March 2027.

This is a varied and rewarding role that will involve supporting pupils across two key stages throughout the school day.

The Role

Morning:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil
• Supporting engagement, learning, and emotional wellbeing
• Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour and inclusion
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO

Afternoon:

• Working as a general Teaching Assistant within a Year 5 classroom
• Supporting the class teacher with lessons and classroom activities
• Delivering interventions and small group support where required
• Helping to create a positive and productive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

• Have previous experience working within a primary school setting
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
• Be patient, resilient, and adaptable in their approach
• Have experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
• Be confident working with children across different age groups
• Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
