Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a passionate SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Walthamstow, supporting pupils aged 6-19 with autism, ADHD and SEMH needs. You will work with teachers to deliver differentiated lessons and build trustful relationships to promote learning and wellbeing.

You will contribute to individual and group support, help implement EHCPs, and use de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm, inclusive environment that helps pupils reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children and young people with SEN or SEMH in a school setting.
• Ability to follow guidance and adapt support to learner needs.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusion, and EHCP processes.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering differentiated lessons across KS1-KS5.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to SEN pupils.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
• Assist with EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans.
• Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress.
• Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills.
• Collaborate with staff to meet individual student needs.
• Monitor progress and wellbeing, offering feedback to teachers.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage participation and life skills development.
