Job summary

Simply Education Ltd is partnering with a Lincoln-area primary school to recruit a Full-Time Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEN. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to deliver individualised support inside and outside the classroom.

The role emphasizes building trusting relationships, encouraging independence, and adapting approaches to meet the pupil's needs, with a focus on emotional wellbeing and inclusive learning.

Qualifications

  • Patient, calm and compassionate.
  • Confident building positive relationships with children.
  • Understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Reliable and consistent.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a school team.
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Prepared to learn and develop their SEN knowledge.
  • Previous SEN experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN TA, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Care Worker or similar would be valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated support to a pupil with SEN.
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
  • Supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Encouraging participation and independence.
  • Helping the pupil access classroom activities and learning opportunities.
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Adapting your approach according to the individual needs of the pupil.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team.
  • Encouraging social interaction and inclusion.
  • Helping celebrate progress, both big and small.
