Job summary

East Sussex County Council is seeking an Individual Needs Assistant at Etchingham Church of England Primary School to support a Year 5 pupil with an EHCP. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide targeted support in Maths and English, and help develop life skills, nurture and self-regulation.

The post is part-time, 9 hours per week over two days, term-time only for 39 weeks plus annual leave, with pay pro rata. Closing date for applications will be communicated locally.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with additional needs
• Experience or training in Thrive and/or Nurture provision
• Demonstrates understanding of emotional regulation and pastoral support

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for a pupil in Maths and English
• Support pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development using nurture-based approaches
• Promote emotional literacy, positive relationships and independence
• Implement strategies outlined in EHCP and work with SENCo and staff
