Job summary

Odyssey House School in Wokingham is seeking a Maths Teacher to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in small classes for students with SEN. You will be supported by Teaching Assistants and an experienced SENCO to focus on high-quality teaching and meaningful progress.

This role requires QTS (or working towards) with a passion for maths and inclusive education. You will contribute to personalised learning, pastoral support as a tutor, and collaboration with staff, while safeguarding and DBS

Qualifications

  • QTS or working towards is required or relevant teaching experience.
  • Good honours degree in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in teaching maths to diverse learners.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons in small classes.
  • Support students to achieve qualifications (Entry Level, Functional Skills, GCSE).
  • Monitor progress and provide clear, supportive feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
  • Provide pastoral support as a tutor/key adult.

Maths Teacher (SEN)

Wokingham, Berkshire
£35,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
Full-time | 8:30am-5:00pm
Must have the right to work in the UK

Odyssey House School is a Good-rated special school with just 36 students, offering a calm, nurturing environment where staff can deliver personalised teaching and build strong relationships.

We are looking for a Maths Teacher to teach small classes of students with high-functioning autism, anxiety and EBSA. You will be supported by Teaching Assistants and an experienced SENCO, allowing you to focus on quality teaching and meaningful student progress.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons in small classes
  • Support students to achieve recognised qualifications (Entry Level, Functional Skills, GCSE)
  • Monitor progress and provide clear, supportive feedback
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff
  • Provide pastoral support as a tutor/key adult

Optional second subject (e.g. Science) may be discussed but is not essential.

  • Proficient in the use of MS office, especially Word and Excel X
  • Experience of working on a tight deadline X
  • Experience working with children/young people with SEND and/or short-term difficulties (e.g. behavioural difficulties, mental health, physical disabilities) X
