Job summary

The Holy Brook School seeks a dedicated teaching assistant to support primary-aged pupils with SEN and SEMH needs. Much of the work is 1:1 or in small groups, helping children regulate emotionally, communicate and grow in independence alongside teachers and pastoral staff.

The role is term time, 37 hours with INSET days, and requires an enhanced DBS and safer recruitment checks. Experience with play-based activities and knowledge of child development are valued, with opportunities for

• Experience of working with children.
• Experience of organising play activities to help children learn.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist the class teacher with learning activities.
• Prepare resources for learning activities.
• Help maintain a calm, positive and inclusive classroom.
• Encourage emotional regulation, communication and social independence.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support.
• Help pupils engage positively with their learning.
