Job summary

City of Portsmouth College is seeking a Sessional Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a September 2026 start. You will support students with special educational needs in 1:1 or small group settings across college campuses in Portsmouth, including break and lunch times and external outings.

The role promotes independence, supports educational outcomes and involves close collaboration with teachers and staff. This post is casual/part-time, term-time only (36 weeks) with pro rata salary.

Qualifications

• Ability to support young people.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of working with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
• Monitoring and recording students’ progress.
• Work collaboratively with the class teachers and other college staff.
