Learning Support Assistant Job in Salford SEN School

Full-time, temporary until the end of the summer term; potential to be extended based on fit and performance

Your New Job

We are looking for an SEN Learning Support Assistant to join the team from September 2025. This is a full-time, temporary role with the potential to be permanent for the right candidate. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support students with complex learning needs in the classroom and during activities.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, and communication support.
• Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver individualised education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
• Use strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and sensory integration techniques.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this SEN support role, you will need:

• Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Confidence in supporting students with personal care and physical needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant training (Team Teach, Moving and Handling, Makaton) is desirable but not essential.
