Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an SEN Learning Support Assistant for a school in Castle Point, Essex, starting September 2026. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence and social skills in an inclusive classroom.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
• Patience, caring nature, resilience and enthusiasm required.
• Relevant transferable experience accepted (e.g., care or youth work).

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Supporting children with a range of additional needs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
• Implementing individual learning and support strategies.
• Working with teachers and the SENCO to meet pupils' needs.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional and social development.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
