Job summary

Teaching Personnel is actively seeking experienced SEN Learning Support Assistants to work in Reading area schools. This role focuses on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs on a 1:1 basis, small groups, or within class settings.

You will assist with interventions, collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators, and implement strategies to promote inclusive learning, positive behaviour, and pupil confidence. Immediate and ongoing opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as SEN Teaching Assistant or similar support role.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs in schools, care, or specialist settings.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Patient, resilient, and compassionate approach.
• Ability to adapt to individual pupil needs.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils with SEN including autism, ADHD, and speech/language needs.
• Deliver tailored interventions and learning activities in line with individual support plans.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
• Promote positive behaviour management strategies.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, engagement, and independence.
