Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEN across Thurrock. You’ll work with teachers to enable learning, independence and progress, with EHCPs guiding targeted support.

The role offers flexible day-to-day supply, bank work, long-term and permanent opportunities to match experience and career goals. Experience with SEN, patience and strong teamwork are valued, along with a flexible, compassionate approach.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Understanding of SEN and personalised support.
  • Experience with EHCPs desirable.
  • Patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Right attitude and commitment valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs).
  • Support implementation of strategies and targets in EHCPs.
  • Adapt activities to individual needs and learning styles.
  • Encourage communication, independence, confidence and social interaction.
  • Promote positive behaviour with consistent approaches.
  • Work with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals.
  • Build trusting relationships and provide ongoing emotional and academic support.
