Job summary

Heart of Worcestershire College in Worcester is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in our SEN department to support learners with diverse needs, working with tutors and contributing to learning plans, targets and progress.

The role involves high-quality one-to-one and group support, promoting inclusion, safeguarding and a commitment to professional development, with opportunities to travel to other campuses as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality one-to-one and group learning support, helping learners engage, achieve their goals and progress successfully.
  • Support learners with a wide range of additional and specialist needs, including autistic spectrum needs, mental health needs, learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural needs, and those requiring additional support on mainstream programmes (NEET).
  • Work closely with tutors, lecturers and other colleagues to identify support needs, contribute to learning plans, set targets and monitor learner progress.
  • Encourage attendance, engagement and achievement, including supporting the development of English and maths and participation in learning activities, trips and visits.
  • Assist with recruitment, enrolment, assessments, screening and initial diagnostics, ensuring appropriate support is identified and put in place.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of learner support and interventions, evaluating their effectiveness and contributing to the continuous improvement of the service.
  • Promote the safeguarding, welfare, equality, health and safety of learners at all times providing incidental personal care and mobility support where required.

Job description

To become a Learning Support Assistant in our SEN department, we need someone who is experienced, committed and passionate. The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.
