Job summary
A leading primary school in Wolverhampton is seeking a compassionate and patient SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a young boy with Down Syndrome. As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work 1:1 with a Reception-aged boy who has Down Syndrome, supporting his development across communication, social interaction, and early learning skills. You'll help him access play-based learning, follow routines, and engage positively with his peers. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you'll implement tailored strategies, use visual supports, and promote his independence within the EYFS framework.
You’re a compassionate, calm and reliable graduate with a genuine interest in SEN and early childhood development. You may have experience working with children in a nursery, school or care setting. You’ll need to be observant, hands-on, and ready to adapt to the child’s needs throughout the day. Any knowledge of speech and language strategies, Makaton, or working with children with Down Syndrome would be an asset.
