Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND in mainstream primary schools in Weston-super-Mare and surrounding areas. You will work on a day-to-day, short-term or longer-term basis, providing tailored one-to-one and small group support under the Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust.

You will join a supportive team with opportunities for training, wellbeing programmes, and access to a toolkit of professional development resources.

Qualifications

  • SEN experience in classroom settings is essential.
  • Ability to provide one-to-one and small group support.
  • Strong understanding of SEND and additional learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEND.
  • Support pupils with autism, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Work with class teachers and SENCOs to support learning needs.
  • Adapt activities and resources to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.

Connex Education is recruiting caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistantto support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across mainstream primary schools in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding areas.

We’re looking for candidates with previous SEN experience who have a strong understanding of additional needs and can provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and thrive in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEND.
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning needs.
  • Adapt activities, resources and learning approaches to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, independence and confidence.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, teachers and wider school staff.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Follow individual support plans and contribute to monitoring pupils’ progress.

Job Requirements
  • Previous experience working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or similar role is essential.
  • Strong understanding of SEN, SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs.
  • Experience providing one-to-one and small group support.
  • A patient, caring and understanding approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Flexible, reliable and confident adapting to different primary school environments.

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
