Job Description:

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a specialist SEN school based in ST2 (Stoke-on-Trent) that provides a nurturing and supportive environment for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Their dedicated team is committed to empowering each child, fostering independence, and ensuring every student reaches their full potential. We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join the school and make a positive impact on the lives of students.

Job Role:
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to a student with specific learning needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to ensure that the student's educational experience is engaging, meaningful, and appropriate to their individual needs. This role will involve supporting the student in class, helping with personal care, and promoting their emotional, social, and academic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a student with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and participate in school activities.
  • Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring the student’s well-being.
  • Adapt and implement individualized learning plans, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support the student in social interactions and help develop their communication skills.
  • Encourage the student's independence.
  • Liaise with parents and other professionals to ensure consistent support and progress.
  • Monitor and record the student’s progress and report any concerns to the relevant staff.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (desirable).
  • Understanding of different learning needs and approaches, particularly in a specialist school setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and professionals.
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic nature.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
