The role involves working closely with Key Stage 3 students with severe and multiple learning needs, providing both educational and personal support. Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant - Specialist Unit (KS3)
Location: Lewisham, London
Salary: 110 - 120 per day
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
Are you passionate about supporting young people with complex special educational needs? We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a warm and supportive SEN school in Lewisham, working within a specialised unit for students with severe and multiple learning needs.
You will be working closely with students in Key Stage 3, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Physical disabilities
This is a rewarding and hands-on role that involves supporting students with both their learning and personal development. Some elements of personal care will be required.
Provide 1:1 and group support to students within the specialist provision
Assist the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and promoting engagement
Help with personal care routines where needed
Contribute to creating a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support behaviour strategies
Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable
Calm, patient, and adaptable with a positive attitude
Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs
Able to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative
A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
