Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping every pupil feel included, confident and able to achieve? Do you enjoy building relationships with children and making a positive difference to their school experience?

Academics are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Havering who are looking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children with a range of additional needs and would like to gain experience across different year groups and areas of SEND. Rather than supporting just one pupil, you will be working with different children throughout the school, providing tailored assistance to help them access learning, develop their confidence and become more independent.

The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, personal development and creating a positive environment where every child is valued. With a broad and engaging curriculum and a real focus on helping pupils develop both academically and personally, this is a lovely opportunity to become part of a supportive school community.

The role will involve:
  • Supporting children with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
  • Providing additional assistance within the classroom and during learning activities.
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and remain engaged throughout the school day.
  • Supporting children's social development, communication and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapting your approach to meet individual learning styles and additional needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and greater independence.
  • Working alongside teachers and other support staff to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or SEND setting.
  • Have an understanding of different additional needs and the challenges some children may face in education.
  • Be patient, approachable and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
  • Be confident building positive relationships with children of different ages and abilities.
  • Have a proactive attitude and be willing to get involved wherever support is needed.
  • Be enthusiastic about helping every child reach their individual potential.
What Academics can offer:
  • Competitive daily rate of £93-£120, depending on experience.
  • An immediate start in a long-term position.
  • The opportunity to gain valuable experience supporting a range of SEND needs.
  • The chance to work within an inclusive and welcoming primary school environment.
  • Ongoing guidance and support from your dedicated Academics consultant.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to children's education and development.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
