Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a caring and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Northumberland from September 2026.

You’ll provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and feel confident within the classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable.
• Experience in a school, nursery, care or support setting.
• Patient, calm and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Resilience and positivity in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

You’ll provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and feel confident within the classroom.

The Role

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs
• Support children with their communication, social and emotional development
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
• Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience
• Support pupils both academically and pastorally throughout the school day

We’re Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND is desirable
• Experience within a school, nursery, care or support setting
• A patient, calm and empathetic approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Resilience and the ability to remain positive in challenging situations
• A genuine passion for inclusive education
