Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting for a SEN Learning Mentor / Teaching Assistant (HLTA considered) to support a small group of secondary-aged pupils with ASC, PDA, EBSNA and SEMH needs in Ashburton/ Newton Abbot. This temporary 14-week assignment runs part-time, with hours 9:00am–2:00pm, Tuesday to Friday, starting September 2026.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Support pupils with ASC, PDA, EBSNA and SEMH needs.
• Plan and deliver engaging project-based activities.
• Embed literacy and numeracy into practical, interest-led learning.
• Encourage emotional regulation, resilience and confidence.
• Adapt learning to suit each pupil's individual needs.
• Record progress and work collaboratively with the wider education team.
