GSL Education is supporting an SEND school in Tavistock seeking Teaching Assistants to join their team on a full-time basis.

The school offers a personalised wrap-around education for students with complex needs or EHCP pupils at risk of residential placements.

Each child receives high levels of support, often including one-to-one assistance and bespoke timetables based on thematic learning experiences. The curriculum is tailored to engage students, build resilience, and support rapid academic progress.

The school has multiple settings, and we are looking for candidates willing to work across KS3-4.

These roles can be challenging, as children may present challenging behaviour. Resilience and commitment are essential.

This role requires a clean UK driving license and own car, which can be used for business purposes.

Responsibilities:
  1. Guide students as Learning Mentors, offering personalised guidance and support.
  2. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop support plans.
  3. Foster a nurturing environment to promote social interactions and communication skills.
  4. Assist with daily tasks, academic activities, and implement interventions to address behaviour challenges and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Available to start ASAP on a full-time basis.
  • Effective communication skills for clear interactions.
  • Patience, empathy, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Dedication to student success.
Why Choose GSL Education?
  • Support from a respected, independent recruitment agency across the UK.
  • Competitive pay rates tailored to candidates.
  • Personalized services with dedicated consultants.
  • Flexible work-life balance options.
  • High standards of safeguarding and quality assurance.

If you are qualified and eager to contribute to inclusive education, please apply and submit your CV. To work with GSL Education, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Possess an up-to-date CV with two recent references.
  • Have a DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

We offer competitive pay, bespoke support, and guidance to help you secure your ideal role. Whether starting your career or seeking a better work-life balance, we are here to support you. Our experienced recruiters have helped many candidates become Support Staff, NQTs, QTs, Psychologists, and senior leaders. Please note, this role requires a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection, or willingness to undertake relevant training, and all background checks including an enhanced DBS.
