Job description

SEN ICT & Computing Teacher – Fakenham, Norfolk

An independent special school near Fakenham, Norfolk is looking for an ICT and Computing Teacher through Luma Education Recruitment, on a temp to perm basis at £170 - £230 per day. You'll work with secondary-age students in KS3 and KS4 who have social, emotional and mental health needs, teaching small classes with support staff in every room. Many students have missed parts of their schooling, so lessons centre on everyday digital skills: getting comfortable with common software, building spreadsheets and presentations, writing simple code and using the internet safely. Anything from 2 to 5 days a week is possible.

The Setting

Part of an established Norfolk education group, the school is small and caters for secondary-age students with SEMH needs. Every class has support staff alongside the teacher, and the day runs on clear routines and close relationships between staff and students.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Teaching ICT and Computing to KS3 and KS4 students, in small groups and one to one
  • Covering word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and introductory coding
  • Building online safety and sensible use of technology into lessons week by week
  • Preparing students for GCSE Computer Science, Functional Skills ICT or Entry Level qualifications
  • Adjusting work and pace for students who lack confidence or have gaps in their learning
  • Keeping progress records and sharing updates with the class team and pastoral staff
What We're Looking For
  • Secondary teaching experience in ICT or Computing
  • Good working knowledge of common software packages and basic programming
  • The ability to adapt lessons for students with additional needs (SEN or SEMH experience is a bonus, not a requirement)
  • Availability for between 2 and 5 days a week
  • QTS is desirable but not essential; unqualified teachers and instructors with relevant experience are also welcome to apply

You’ll explain things clearly, stay patient and help students make steady progress.
